LA84 Foundation - MT. SAC RELAYS COMPETITION RULES & POLICIES

The LA84 Foundation / Mt. SAC Relays Youth Days is tailored to teach and introduce young individuals to the sport of Track & Field. The Youth Days is not intended for those individuals who participate in club or USATF Track & Field competitions. The Youth Days is for schools to introduce their students to a fun, enjoyable and educational day of Track & Field.

Competitor Equipment / Rules
  • Athletes must be entered by and run for their school. NO CLUB TEAM OR INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  • A school official (Teacher, Principal, etc.) must enter team members (for liability purposes).
  • Only “flat” shoes will be allowed for competition. No “track spikes” or “spiked shoes” with spikes taken out, will be allowed.
  • No starting blocks are allowed.
  • Athletes may wear either their school issued uniform, Youth Days t-shirt or any other comfortable attire for competition.
  • A sixth grader may run in either the Elementary or Middle School Division, but NOT IN BOTH divisions.
  • Each competitor may compete in one running, one field and one relay event.
  • Each field event competitor (except high jump) will receive warm-up time and then two attempts to achieve their best mark.
  • In the high jump a competitor will receive 6 attempts to achieve their best effort.
Relay Team Rules
  • All four (4) members of a relay team should be of the same sex and grade division (Grades 3 and 4 combined is an exception).
  • If absolutely needed, a Relay Team may use a runner from a lower grade division.
  • No boy(s) may compete in a girls relay race.
  • No older boy or girl may participate in a lower grade race.
  • All competitors will be lined up to START IN EACH ZONE at the start of the exchange zone. Relay exchanges must occur within the 30 meter exchange zone (there are no more acceleration zones).
