Building a Foundation to Coach High School Hurdlers

About the Session

If you are a coach that is new to hurdles, and would like to know how to start, what is needed to coach the event, the distances and heights of each race and what are the foundations of good hurdling, this class is for you.

About the Presenter

Coach Micheal Wellington is a graduate of Valencia High School where he learned the craft of hurdling and became league champ as a senior.  He attended Cal State University, Northridge where he also ran hurdles. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from CSUN and his Master’s in Education from University of La Verne. Wellington was previously the Head Coach at Alemany High School from 2013-20, where he helped to produce a Division 3 Girls Championship Team and three Runner-Up Teams. He was also able to send 22 athletes to college on scholarships, and produce several state & nationally ranked hurdlers, both at the high school level and privately in the hurdle races. Micheal Wellington also has his USATF certification in Sprints, Hurdles and Relays.
