Rotational Teaching Progressions for Shot / Discus

About the Session

A systematic approach to teach your athletes the progression from the standing throw (front of circle), half turn throw (middle of circle) and full throw (starting at the back of the circle). At the end of the lesson you will have specific steps and directions to teach your athlete how to use the rotational technique for both the shot put and discus.

About the Presenter

Coach Nick Garcia is a graduate of St. Francis High School in Mountain View, CA, where he won ALL-WCAL honors as an offensive guard and shot putter in track & field. While at Cal State University Northridge, Garcia earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology and was a two-time Big Sky champion in the shot put. He teaches PE, coaches the throwing events and is the Strength & Conditioning coach for Notre Dame High School. Garcia has achieved IAAF Level 5 and USATF Level III certification in the throws—the highest certifications available in the track & field world.
