Ramona Pagel, four-time Olympian and former U.S. Record Holder, will outline how to introduce the discus to new athletes, and then outline an effective teaching progression for the event.

About the Presenter

Ramona Pagel has been a member of four U.S. Olympic Teams in two throwing events, broken the U.S. Record 13 times over her 20-year career, was the first World-Ranked American in her event in over 30 years, threw 12 straight years over 60’ in the shot, and is coach of the U.S. Record Holder in a third throwing event. In 1985, Pagel threw 62-9.25, to break the American Record for the first time. In 1987, she popped a monster throw indoors, 65-0.75; it remains the U.S. Indoor Record. In 1995, Ramona placed 7th in the World and was ranked in the top ten in the World, the first American female shot putter since 1960 to achieve such an honor. Pagel has ranked as high as #2 in the U.S. in the discus, in 1986 & 1988. Her discus career best of 203’2″ came in 1987.
